The news comes from Kotaku, who noticed the option to switch between male and female Eivor during its Assassin’s Creed Valhalla preview session. “You can swap back and forth between the male and female versions of Eivor, seemingly at will,” reads the preview. “I played most of the demo as the female Eivor.” “Toward the end of my session I noticed an option to press up on the D-pad while toggling between menus,” it continues. “Doing so let me interface with the Animus and start playing as the male Eivor moments later, complete with new animations and a different voice. The whole thing was seamless, at least in the demo.” We learned loads about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla from our own hands-on preview, too. For example, we got video footage of Valhalla’s highly-anticipated Viking rap battles, as well as some interesting Raid gameplay. Also - and this is my favourite thing about Valhalla so far - it has officially been confirmed that you can bring cat raiders on your longboat with you. They’re not the best warriors, granted (largely because they are, in fact, cats), but they’re still Viking cats. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is due to launch for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 17, 2020. Players who purchase it for current-gen will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version free of charge at launch. In related news, Ubisoft recently announced that three of its top executives were resigning. These resignations are tied to the company’s investigations into allegations of harassment and abuse, and come after the resignation of Vice President Editorial Maxime Beland last week, who was suspended alongside Tommy Francois.
