Last year, we were left staring at a black hole for days while Fortnite had a complete overhaul. New fishing mechanics were added alongside the ability to swim, drive boats and weapons could be upgraded. The new season will no doubt have even more changes, particularly since Epic has switched to the Chaos Engine.
Players have also spotted various items around the map turning to solid gold, so who knows what secrets will be revealed over the next few days. As ever, there will be an end-of-season event that’s likely to be smaller in scale, alongside reveal videos for Season 2’s new theme and the all-important Battle Pass. Downtime is expected to begin soon, so check back soon for more updates.

Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 2 - All the latest leaks and rumours

Towards the end of the last season, there was a lot of chat about the Seven and the ominous Zero Point. Posters have started to appear in public with the word Fortnite written in gold with a handprint over it. If you call the number on the poster, you get an automated message about access denied, as if you’re not one of the agents they’re looking for. Twitter user @iFireMonkey shared different recordings of phone calls made to the number in English, Japanese and Portuguese.

New numbers are popping up around the globe, so you can expect to see varying lines of dialogue appearing throughout the week before Season 2 begins on Thursday. Another Fortnite datamining account, FNLeaksAndInfo, has created a handy visual guide that shows a bunch of regional phone numbers and locations where adverts for Season 2 have been spotted. Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 2 - Map changes

In terms of map changes, Pleasant Park is rumoured to be leaving the map after the snow revealed a dusty layer. It’s one of several old locations borrowed from Fortnite’s first chapter, so it makes sense to get rid of them in favour of pastures new. Leaker Hypex discovered that if you call the German hotline, you’ll get the coordinates D3, G4, F2, which does support the idea that Pleasant Park is getting wiped, alongside areas near Craggy Cliffs and Dirty Docks. It also looks like the middle island will change this season, as it has in previous iterations. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Manage cookie settings — HYPEX - Fortnite Leaks & News (@HYPEX) February 17, 2020 An oil rig and helicopter pad could become a new POI next season, as the latest trailers revealed explosive devices and an earlier trailer revealed a landing pad. A huge explosion could blow some areas clear off the map, making way to usher in this new golden age. The new Chaos Engine means that buildings are now crumbling away rather than just disappearing, so we’ll likely be seeing more weird and wonderful animations in the next season. It’s not clear whether Agent Meowsicles - an entity found meowing in the files - will make an appearance, however. There’s also a rumour that the map is going to flood. Much like the volcano rumour, this theory has been going on for a few seasons now. Reddit user jtlambert found the word, Noah - as in, Noah’s ark - spelt out on the ground from an aerial point of view, but it’s not clear whether a Chaos Engine flood is going to wipe out large areas of the map. Thanks to PCGamer for spotting it. Fortnite leaker @spedicey1 found files that indicate that we could be getting a rapid-fire SMG, or maybe even the Machine Pistols that were vaulted in 2017, if you can remember playing Fortnite that far back. Dexerto also reported that vending machines are also set to return, and there’s a good chance that fan-made creations will play a bigger role next season.
