Bunny Day is the first repeat event following the game’s one-year anniversary last week. Bunny Day 2021 is in large part the same as last year’s festival, though there are a few small changes and new things to see. For starters, this time around the run-up to the festival lasts just eight days — beginning on Sunday 28th March and lasting until Sunday 4th April. This is good news for people who found themselves with too many eggs replacing their supply of practical building materials during last year’s 12-day-long event. Bunny Day itself falls on the final day — 4th April, coinciding with real-world celebrations of Easter Sunday — and will see Zipper T. Bunny set up in the plaza like other festival NPCs we’ve seen throughout the year. Read on for more information about Bunny Day celebrations old and new in ACNH:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons — where to find Zipper T. Bunny

To get started, you need to find Zipper T. Bunny somewhere around your island from March 28th onwards. He seems to appear near your house or the central plaza in the first instance, but can be scattered anywhere. Once you’ve spoken to him though, he’ll disappear until the big day. As his name suggests, ol’ Zipper is a yellow rabbit with a big zip down his back - so you’re not going to miss him. Especially when he’s hopping around like an aerobics instructor. He’s become a bit of a meme in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community, thanks to his strange manner and thousand-yard-stare. As evidenced by the little video below, lurking beneath that peppy exterior is an eternal and unbridled sadness - just look at that world-weary sigh: Speaking to him starts the Bunny Day activities in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, although you might have already collected a couple of eggs on your way over. He also gifts you a cute DIY recipe — the Bunny Day Bed — to kick off the fun. You have two goals for the Bunny Day event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:

Find special Bunny Day-themed DIY recipes hidden around your island Hunt down different types of eggs to build those recipes

There are six types of Bunny Day eggs to find, and all are gathered from where you’d normally collect resources (see below). Likewise, most DIY recipes are found in the usual places: there are 16 to get from popping balloons, finding message bottles on the beach, and talking to your island’s residents during the event period; and you’ll receive a special prize if you can find them all by Bunny Day on April 4th. Check in with Zipper T. Bunny on the big day to see what you’ve won. Oh, and if you don’t manage to find Zipper in time, don’t panic — a few days in, if he still hasn’t managed to speak to you in person, he’ll send you some mail with the Bunny Day Bed DIY recipe and instructions on how to participate in the event.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Bunny Day eggs

Most of the Bunny Day DIY recipes we’ve seen so far require just one of each of the six types of egg. However, some of the larger items which look like eggs require multiples of the same ones. Here’s where you can find them.

All of the eggs are found outdoors, so you don’t need to traipse into your villagers’ homes to continue the hunt. If you speak to your neighbours, they suggest that you can get loads of eggs on Nook Miles Ticket islands too! It’s a little frustrating to keep getting eggs as you try to collect your normal resources, but Nintendo has released a patch lowering the amount of eggs that appear. This was especially annoying when fishing, so we’re glad it’s been tweaked.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Bunny Day DIY recipes & locations

There seems to be a semi-randomised element to the different Bunny Day DIY recipes you can find. Different people don’t always seem to get the same results from the same places.

There are 20 recipes altogether, not counting the Egg Costumes (which we’ll cover in a separate section below). Here are all the recipes and how to get them:

Giving one egg each of all six types to Zipper on Bunny Day gets you an extra gift: the Bunny Day Basket. You just get the furniture item rather than a DIY recipe for this one, but you can claim multiple baskets if you have more complete sets of eggs to spare.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Egg Costumes

You can also make clothes out of the egg items if you collect enough of them! As you stuff more and more into your pockets, after a while you will think of a new recipe. This seems to happen semi-randomly as well. For example, I unlocked the Stone Egg Costume after collecting eight of them, but didn’t get the Wood Egg Costume until I’d snagged 14. There are three pieces of each Egg Costume:

Egg Shell (hat): 2 Eggs of the relevant type Egg Outfit (dress): 3 Eggs of the relevant type Egg Shoes (boots): 2 Eggs of the relevant type

You’ll receive recipes for all three parts at the same time. So good news: there’s no need to grind for each piece individually. Each of the six available egg types represents a colour variant for the Egg Costume that you need to unlock and learn separately: Earth is pink, Leaf is green, Sky is blue, Stone is yellow, Water is purple, and Wood is orange. Once you’ve unlocked the costume for every kind of Bunny Day Egg, you’ll think up another two-part DIY recipe which combines them all: the Egg Party set. Again, you’ll get both of these at the same time.

Egg Party Hat: 2 of every Egg Egg Party Dress: 3 of every Egg

There are no colour variants on the Egg Party set, since it combines all six egg types found in the other sets. Dress up fancy and enjoy the bragging rights!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons — new Bunny Day items for 2021

To keep things fresh for players who really went for it with last year’s Bunny Day celebrations, there are a few new items to collect this year. However, completing this new set is considerably easier than hunting high and low for eggs and their accompanying crafting recipes.

Instead, you just need to head to Nook’s Cranny, where the seasonal item display is back up so that Timmy and Tommy can peddle you their new five-piece Bunny Day collection.

Just like the special items the Nooklings sold during the Halloween and Festivale events, one item will be available per day for the duration. That gives you just eight days to buy all five items, so be sure to check back often if you want the full set! For more information on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, here’s our full guide.
